“Now write what you have seen, what is, and what is to take place after this. As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:

The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the origin of God’s creation: So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am about to spit you out of my mouth. ”

“For you say, ‘I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing.’ You do not realize that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. Therefore I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire so that you may be rich; and white robes to clothe you and to keep the shame of your nakedness from being seen; and salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.

“I reprove and discipline those whom I love. Be earnest, therefore, and repent.

“Listen! I am standing at the door, knocking; if you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to you and eat with you, and you with me

“To the one who conquers I will give a place with me on my throne, just as I myself conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. Let anyone who has an ear listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches.”

-Revelation

Write What You Have Seen

God is telling John to write down what he has seen. I thin we can assume that this is talking about what he saw in spiritual visions, not what he saw in the physical world around him. He adds that John should write about “ what is, and what is to take place after this.”

Seven Churches

John wrote about seven churches. Today, there are far more than seven churches and more than seven religions, yet what John wrote still applies.

Words of the Amen

John wrote about the “words of the Amen,” but Amen is a single word. However, John was a very spiritual person and knew that the single word represented a spiritual chant used in spiritual development techniques. If you attend any of our Divine Sunrise Services, you will hear the Chant. It goes something like this: “Ahhh, Oooo, Uuuuu, Mmmm, Eeeee, Nnnnn, Mmmmm, Nnnn.” John says this is the “true witness, the origin of God’s creation.” I think he is saying that this is the sound of the Spiritual realm, the realm where God and the angels are found. You might say that it is the song the angels sing and play on their harps, although angels don’t really carry harps with them, or anything else material.

I Need Nothing

Materialists might say that since they have plenty of money, they need nothing. Yet even the wealthiest among them are never satisfied and are always trying to get more. They don’t realize that more money is not what they need. They need to awaken and develop their spiritual Self. Without doing that, they will always feel as if they need more. So John advises them to buy the “gold refined by fire”. Remembering that in those days, fire and light were considered the same thing, we can see that he is talking about the Gold that comes from the Spiritual Light that shines down on us from the Spiritual Sun.

Knocking at the Door

This is an allegorical way to say that the Spiritual Light is shining down upon us at all times, but we must open ourselves and let it in or it will have little effect. When we intentionally take in that Light, and let it awaken and develop our spirit, we will have a place on the throne, which is in Heaven.
